Frequently asked questions

What is Direct View LED and how is it different from a regular screen?

Direct View LED (DV-LED) is a display technology where each pixel is its own tiny LED light source. Unlike LCD screens that use a backlight behind liquid crystals, DV-LED produces light directly — delivering brighter, more vivid imagery with true blacks, no bezels, and virtually unlimited size options. This makes LED video walls the preferred choice for commercial environments where visual impact, reliability, and scalability matter.

What is pixel pitch and why does it matter?

Pixel pitch is the distance in millimetres between each LED pixel on a display. The smaller the number, the higher the resolution at close viewing distances. For a retail interior where customers stand 1–3 metres away, a fine pixel pitch (1.2–1.9mm) delivers sharp detail. For shopfront windows viewed from across the street, a wider pitch (2.5–4mm) is more cost-effective without sacrificing impact. MegaScreens helps you choose the right pixel pitch for your space and viewing distance.

Can LED displays be installed in heritage or listed buildings?

Yes. MegaScreens has experience working within heritage building constraints, listed building regulations, and architecturally sensitive environments. We work closely with architects, conservation officers, and building management teams to design installations that respect the character of the space while delivering the visual impact your brand needs. Every project is planned to meet specific structural and regulatory requirements.

What support is included with a MegaScreens installation?

Every MegaScreens installation includes ongoing after-care as standard: remote diagnostics, preventative maintenance, on-site servicing when needed, content management guidance, and a dedicated Project Manager who stays with you throughout the life of the display. Our support doesn't end at installation — it's a core part of what we do.

Does MegaScreens work internationally?

Yes. MegaScreens is based in London and delivers projects across the UK and internationally. We have on-the-ground partnerships and teams in the USA, Dubai, and major European markets including Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. If your project is outside the UK, get in touch and we’ll confirm how we can support it.

How much does a DV LED display cost?

Cost depends on display size, pixel pitch, installation complexity, and content management requirements. A smaller feature wall or window display might start from around £10,000, while larger flagship installations or multi-zone environments can range significantly higher. MegaScreens provides a detailed, transparent proposal after an initial consultation — so you have a clear picture of investment before committing. We also offer flexible hire options for shorter-term projects and events.

How long does it take to go from enquiry to a working LED display?

Timelines vary by project scope. A straightforward installation using our MS Poster or MS Pro Series can be live within days of delivery. Larger or more complex projects — such as custom-sized walls, curved installations, or multi-site rollouts — typically take 4–8 weeks from order confirmation, including engineering, production, and on-site installation. Your dedicated Project Manager provides a clear schedule from the start, so there are no surprises along the way.
